I forget.....
i can't remember what all i wanted to write about.
...i may have my first real client!!!!! I noticed this couple at walmart while i was looking for clothes. she was pregnant. i decided if i got the chance, i'd talk to them. well, i gave up when i saw them leaving the area. a little bit later, i went to try on the clothes i had picked out and they were arriving at the same time. i told her to go ahead, there was only one open at that time of night. so while waiting, her husband? said something to me about her trying to find clothes that fit. bingo! i started talking to him and when there was a lull i wrote down my name and number on a piece of paper. i gave it to him, shaking, and described what i did. i also wrote down dona's website, so they could research it a little more. when the mom came out, she was really excited and we talked for about 10 mins. w/o her going back in to change. at the end of the conversation, she said she'd most likely call me. she was really interested. she's due in july. i couldn't sleep that night. i was up until 6am. literally. i was sooooo excited.
the next day i got to tell my sunday school class about it. no prospects, but you never know who they might know. but that night, i did get the chance to talk to one of the mom's in class about her births. i figure even this much after a birth, you can still help reframe it if it was negative. we talked for awhile and i was really glad she felt like sharing.
monday night, our neighbors across the street came over while michael mowed and i played with kassidy. their little boy, he's 3 months and 5 inches bigger than kassidy, wanted to come play. we got to talking and she is a labor and delivery nurse here at flaget, our hospital. i got to talk to her about what role doulas have been playing. she said she'd advertise it in the paper, b/c the only ones she had seen were from e-town. she sounded supportive of them, which is good, too. i gave her my number and told her they could call anytime they might need my services. she said she would. it's been 2 weeks since then and no calls, but i know god's in control and they will come.
one other girl who i knew i did talk to about it, but she sorta closed down. it was realy odd. we don't have a great friendship or anything, but we see each other twice a week and she opens up to me. but, the next week, she lost the baby. i got to talk to her about that as well and offer her some comfort. i think that she got to see more of my heart and i even gave her a hug! she's doing better with it. she had to go right back to work for the money. i wish i could've offered her some help there. i know once we're out of debt, things like that will be easier to do. anyways.
easter came and went. kassidy looked adorable!! mom made her easter outfit; i picked out the stuff; and kassidy pulled it all off and made it look absoulutely adorable. i'll have to post a picture soon.
we've hit potty training hard this week. we've had our share of accidents, but i think we're progressing. i'm just not sure how much to push her. it seems like such a delicate balancing act. i don't want her to continue to wait or outgrow the desire to go. she's so proud of herself when she does it. and for some reason, she does better with michael. who knew?
he passed one of his tests in his praxis and failed the other by one point. he's retaking them this weekend. i'm coming to cincy tonight. i'll be there until sat. morning at least, maybe saturday night depending on whether i go to chrissi party or get to go during the week. we'll see. i'll have my cell phone, if anyone wants to do anything. i'll look forward to hearing from you.
